Hungover in Liverpool

It’s the morning after the night before that involved maybe a few too many cocktails or beers and now it’s time to spend a day in Liverpool enjoying some of the city’s best ‘hangover day’ goodness.

We’ve all been there after having the best night out with friends to feeling the need to find the nearest place to eat the morning after and in our opinion there is only one place to start after waking up with a hangover and that is Brunchin’, the ultimate sweet and savoury goodness, that is capable of curing any hangover.

Breakfast at Brunchin’

So, first up in our hangover day recommendations is Brunchin’, which is sure to have all of the answers to that hangover. Brunchin’ has you covered with the likes of Belgian Waffles topped with banoffee and peanut butter for those fancying something sweet, but worry not if you’re more of a savoury person as they’ve got a ‘Fry Up’, steak and eggs and Eggs Benedict to name just a few of our favourites.

Did we mention that they also have a juice bar? Our favourite two smoothies are the Strawberry Fields which combines raspberries, strawberries, bananas and coconut milk and the Super Green which is a mixture of kiwi, avocado, cucumber, spinach, banana, ginger and coconut milk all going together to make it a glass of Green bliss.

Shopping at Liverpool One

After you’ve spent the morning regaining some of that energy then you’ll be ready for some shopping, and you’re in luck as Brunchin’ is just a few steps away from Liverpool One.

If you’ve been to Liverpool One before, then you’ll know just how spoilt for choice you are with the amount of different shops on offer. But our number one suggestion is John Lewis which is sure to have something to get you through the day. Treat yourself to some pre-Christmas gifts or pick out the perfect bits for your loved ones with four floors to browse through with everything from tech and gadgets to beauty.

Bean Coffee

Once you’ve finished browsing the rails and shelves of John Lewis our next recommendation has to be Bean Coffee and as the name suggests this is definitely one for the coffee drinkers amongst us, as the indie-owned cafe and workspace boasts a wide variety of beans from all over the world making sure to have something for everyone’s tastes.

Don’t worry if coffee isn’t your thing though, as they also serve up some delicious loose-leaf teas and smoothies.

Roast Dinner at Papillon

Starting to feel that hunger creeping in again? Then worry not as a short walk or drive to Papillon on Hope Street will do just the trick.

Sunday roasts and Sunday hangovers go hand in hand and we think you’ll struggle to find a better roast dinner than in Papillon. Sitting right in the middle of Hope Street, in between the city’s two centrepiece cathedrals, Papillon is the perfect location to spend any afternoon but at this time of year with their Christmas decorations glistening there really is no better place to sit and enjoy a delicious roast dinner.

But, if roast dinners aren’t really your thing then worry not as Papillon has a menu full of delicious treats. Our personal favourite is the ‘Pan-fried hake fillet with Americané sauce, cherry tomatoes, new potatoes, kale, peas, and toasted sourdough’, and that’s not to mention their delicious selection of desserts as well.

A Walk in Sefton Park

If you ask anyone in the city what their favourite park is the answer will almost always be Sefton Park, and they’re not wrong either.

The much-loved Sefton Park is located in the south of the city so will require a short 7-minute drive but if you fancy making your way there on foot then it’ll be an approximately 40-minute’s.

If you fancy a break from all of that walking then West Coast Coffee is the place for you. The husband and wife team run their business from a converted vintage horse box just at the entrance to the park.

They’ve got you covered as they serve up their delicious blends of coffee and locally made pastries from Wednesday to Sunday from 8.30 – 14.30 making it the perfect place to take a break and pick up your favourite coffee or hot chocolate.

They also sell their own blends of coffee so if you’re as much of a coffee fiend as we are, be sure to buy some to try at home!
